What is the Metaverse?

You had to have been living under a rock to not have heard some of the hype around the phrase Metaverse!  

The metaverse is a virtual world where people work, build, shop, socialize, learn and play.  

The company formly known as Facebook changed it’s name to Metavese to emphasize their level of commitment to building the metaverse technology.    What is the technology and what is the Metaverse? 

The simplest way to illustrate: It is the matrix.  A fully immersive interactive 3D world.  (requires VR headset) This is most profound metaverse environment of them all.  Everything else is something less.   There are computer based applications that allow you to access versions of metaverse.  Those are only 3D browsers.   The true metaverse is where you experience it.   Imagine watching a kiss on TV.  That’s brower based metaverse.   Now recall your actual first real kiss.  That’s immersive VR metaverse.   

How do I get in the Metaverse? 

There are two metaverse platforms currently immersive and browser based:  Correspondingly there are two methods to access. 

Browser based requires a crypto wallet and computer.    The second or real metaverse requires VR headset aka augmented reality glasses.

Trading Stocks in the Metaverse

Last year I purchased the Oculus VR headset – Connected an app called immersive that allows you to bring your computer screens into VR and view them on huge screens.  So now my 27 inch screens become 25 feet screens.   Fired up my trading application on my MacBook,  all ready to trade stocks within the metaverse.  Let’s gooo. 

Laggggg! Oh nooo.  There’s a delay if you use wireless and my connection speed is 400MBS.    I’ve since bought the wired connection / oculus link and resolved the issue.
